Director Materials & Supply Chain Report

Topic of the Day Presentation

This was an individual “Topic of the Day” presentation where I explored the role of a Director of Materials and Supply Chain within a healthcare organization, using Eskenazi Health as my example. I looked at how supply chain management affects day-to-day hospital operations, efficiency, and patient care. This assignment helped me become more comfortable presenting and better at connecting what we learn in class to real situations in healthcare.

What I learned

I chose this assignment because it pushed me to explore a part of healthcare that I had not looked into before. Learning about the role of supply chain management helped me understand how much work happens behind the scenes to keep a hospital running smoothly and ensure patients receive proper care. I also put a lot of effort into researching and organizing my presentation so that it was clear and easy to follow. One part I really enjoyed was approaching the presentation as if I were the Director of Materials and Supply Chain for Eskenazi Health and delivering a report. Thinking from that perspective made the project feel more realistic and helped me better understand the responsibilities, decision-making, and impact of that role. It pushed me to think more professionally and consider how information would be communicated in an actual healthcare setting. This project demonstrates my ability to take on a new subject, break it down into understandable parts, and communicate it clearly. It also reflects my growing confidence in presenting and my skill in applying classroom knowledge to real-world situations, which I know will be valuable in my future career.
